Today is the second Two-for-Tuesday and the prompts are:

  • Write a love poem, and/or…
  • Write an anti-love poem.

Discarded Hearts

Though I feel dread
disgust, palpable
purposelessness
he rests beside me
being, breathing

Though I no longer want to try
no longer see the point of effort
no longer cling to hope or promise
he is near, calm, is not repelled

Though I cannot
muster meaning
for going through
motions toward
more rejection
he accepts my
presence as
preferred
