Summer Haze by Maria L. Berg 2025
Prompt
Today’s prompt from Björn for Meet the Bar at the dVerse Poets Pub is to write a cinquain. A cinquain is a syllabic poem with five lines. The lines follow the syllable count: 2, 4, 6, 8, 2.
Poem
Late Summer
This haze hides the mountain and traps unpleasant heat but I’m not yet choked by smoke from the fires.

Not yet….It’s a problem here in North Thailand too – usually around March.😢
That’s something I’d forgotten about here in the UK, where the weather has cooled down and we’re getting quite a lot of rain, so no heath, moorland or forest fires, plus all the children are back at school. But now I have autumn fires to contend with, people burning garden rubbish and leaves. Stay safe, Maria.

I never imagined such smoky haze would be a part of summer. That looks very thick! Be safe.

Stay safe from the fire and smoke. A few weeks back the haze was bad here and the air quality was not good for outside activities.
