OctPoWriMo 2023:Facing Our Fears
Fear of Norms: Write a poem from the POV of a monster or your jack-o-lantern. What specifically does the monster fear?
You may want to write it as a Bop. Here’s a bop I wrote for OctPoWriMo 2019:
Crossing the threshold
Inside
Flannel pajamas
covered in blankets
heating pad on my belly
alone in thoughtful silence
imagining a better world
Need a push to cross the threshold
Outside
People, places, things
aspirations and collaborations,
beauty, love fresh and new
expectations, disappointments,
together in thoughtful silence
peppered with communication
that can be misunderstood
Need a push to cross the threshold
Inside Out
Comfort or adventure
alone together
creating more existence
forming bonds
entering or exiting
Need a push to cross the threshold

Today’s image prompt is another super-creepy gif. What is that thing? Where did it come from? What would you do if you were in that car?

I really enjoy carving Jack-o-lanterns. I also really like the wire jack-o-lantern filter I made, so today should be a lot of fun.
Please link to your creations in the comments. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Monster Grievance
I am a monster
Grievance is my name
I come at you with many heads
just as many arms
To browbeat you with all
the injustices I have suffered
A poem is too little to convey
the horrendous nature of my woe
Homer himself could not clarify
the varieties of my rage
I fear one man, only one
he of fairy tale lore
Who knew that the
emperor has no clothes.

I love the choice of Grievance for monster POV. Great take on the prompt.
